New Food Craze

Yesterday on my way home from work, I received a forward SMS message from a friend about the hit street food, “calamares.”

The gist of the SMS message says like this, “Wonder why the calamares sold on the streets cost cheap even it cost a lot per kilo on supermarkets and restaurants? These squids actually came from China and were sold here in the Philippines per sack. And what makes the squid fresh from China to the Philippines? The answer…it is being treated with a formalin solution.” Yummy!

No wonder why Filipinos are addicted to this new street food. Not only it tastes good but it also costs cheap. Your tummy would be satisfied for only 10 pesos. Each ring by the way costs 3 pesos.

After the news about the lead content in China made toys and food products with formalin solution, what would be the next with China?

I’m glad I haven’t tasted any calamares from the streets. Not only was I afraid of hepatitis but I also have a weak stomach. This article hasn’t been verified. Better be safe than be sorry.

weh di nga.... may news na ba tungkol dito? baka kasi di totoo, because i also seemed to like it.

kasi ang alam ko lang yung ginagawang vinegar solution para sawsawan nito eh glacial acetic acid ata yung pang photography na acid...

that figures.just outside UPLB's main gate, there's this street food stall which also offers the calamares for 10php (3 pieces). my friends and i tried them out a week ago (nainggit kasi kami sa mga kumakain nun that time) and the morning after, all of us had upset stomachs. maybe it was just a coincidence, or from another food we ate, or dahil sa maxadong nausukan ng mga sasakyan yung calamares.haha. nevertheless, we'll be getting our fix of calamares from "non street food" establishments.haha.pricey yes, but at least we can be sure of the quality. thanks for the post makoy. can i repost it?thanks!
